Unlocking Potential in the Regions
Qld Tech Heroes STEM Superhero Ambassador Program
We received an Advance Queensland grant to bring our successful program regional Qld!
We are creating the next generation of startups and creating jobs of the future by embedding entrepreneurial capacity and capability in regional communities through school students, teacher, and industry Ambassadors. Our program will deliver 7 one day hack day workshops to local champions who will identify a problem in the local community to solve, design a solution to the problem, build a prototype of an App and present a pitch of their idea to industry representatives in the evening after a panel event. Practical information about entrepreneurship will be delivered: including how to develop an idea and startup company, and how using business, social and technical problem solving skills to build an App.
Fifteen local students and fifteen teachers will be invited to register as an Ambassador to attend each workshop, and they will become ongoing local champions for the program, skilling up others in their newly gained entrepreneurial knowledge. STEM industry professionals will be invited to attend the Ambassadors pitches at an evening event to network and build local collaborations between companies and schools. This kind of professional development activity benefits not only participants, but the wider community long after the workshop has run. We will host the events at universities where possible.
Developing leadership skills is a key part of the Ambassador program. Through transferring detailed knowledge of the application of the entrepreneurial program, our local Ambassadors become local champions, role models and points of contact for others wanting advice for the entrepreneurial journey.
