More than 20 West End Primary School girls attended a recent fun afternoon at locally- based International tech company TechnologyOne.
With cupcakes and a talk by 2015 Winners of the Search for the Next Tech Girl Superhero competition Team Pawsout from St. Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School, we got to hang out in the cool techspace which is TechnologyOne’s HQ in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane.
Brett Hooker, Group Director for Research and Development at TechnologyOne welcomed the teams of girls from West End Primary School to HQ. Talking about the importance of fostering the next generation of technologists, he invited the girls to dream big and seriously consider working and innovating for cutting edge companies like TechnologyOne in the future. Kathy Carr, Human Resources Director at TechnologyOne shared stories about her role in the company, and about the exciting futures for all of us working in tech.
Team Pawsout shared their experiences in the competition with our current competitors, and the after school event was a great opportunity for TechnologyOne mentors to meet their teams face to face and also to meet teachers from the school and parents who joined us.
A comment from a teacher who attended says how much fun we had:
“Your mentors are doing a great job! Made a quick movie of the High Tea extravaganza to show all the girls today. We had a brilliant afternoon!” We can’t wait for the next event! 🙂
