Techgirls partnership with Coderdojos
CoderDojo is a worldwide movement of free, volunteer-led, community-based programming clubs for young people. Anyone aged seven to seventeen can visit a Dojo where they can learn to code, build a website, create an app or a game, and explore technology in an informal, creative, and social environment.
We at the Tech Girls Movement Foundation are excited to establish 10 Techgirls Dojos in regional Queensland and New South Wales in the next 12 months. Funded by the Queensland Government and AustCyber, we will work with local communities to bring an opportunity to girls and young women who may not otherwise be able to access creative STEM outreach initiatives. We also have funding for technology equipment for the dojos. Our aim is to establish long term partnerships between regional communities, local organisations and mentors, and the International Coderdojo community.
If you are passionate about STEM, young people, and solving local community problems? Then we need you! We are seeking a team of volunteers to be our Regional Ambassadors and work with us for the next 12 months in Townsville, Mackay, Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton, and the Gold Coast to establish local Techgirls Coderdojo clubs to support female students in your local community. We have funding to support the establishment of these clubs kicking off with a community launch event with us, along with fun equipment to engage young people hands-on in STEM.
