The team for the affirmative (Orange team) will argue that wearable technology is fashionable and that form follows function and therefore anything useful, is of course, always fashionable.  Team Members include:

  • Peter Lambert
  • Brendan Smyth
  • Roze Frost

The team for the negative (Purple team) will argue that the technology could never be fashionable or even a fashion item.  Fashion is about beauty and when did technology ever present a beautiful face to the world. Team Members include:

  • Megan James
  • Gavin McCairns
  • Dr Jenine Beekhuyzen

The debate will begin at approximately 8:30pm after the main course;

The moderator, Kathleen Lazzari will introduce the debate, explain the debate rules and introduce each of the speakers;

The affirmative team will begin the debate. Each person will be allowed a speaking time of six minutes.  The moderator will warn the speaker with one minute to go, but also has complete discretion to allow a speaker to finish a statement even if over the time limit;

The teams will take turns until all members have had a chance to speak.  Usually, the last speaker of both sides will try to include a rebuttal or comments directed at the other team’s speeches.
